Mega Bloks First Builder Big Building Bag Review

This is the 1st of two Mega Bloks reviews and a contest (see below). Mega Bloks is branding their owner line as "first builders". Currently at retail is the Big Building Bag at the price of $19.99. Their are 2 color schemes: classic or girl themed. Designed for ages 1+.

First off the set comes in a great resealable bag, that for the green people is PVC free and Eco friendly. It looks plenty durable and has a zipper and carry handle. You get 80 blocks and a base that has 4 wheels to create moving creations.

I let my 22 month old son at them. As no stranger to blocks and building toys he of course jumped right in. I made some of the suggested items shown on the bag: car, alligator and horse. The thing that I love about the Mega brand blocks is that they easily connect and stay together well. They have tall pegs that keep blocks well attached. The thing that he enjoys is taking apart anything that is built, but also stacking big block towers. He also likes to drive the car platform around with assorted pieces on it.

I think this set is a great intro set or an add-on to a Mega Blok collection. These are rated for age 1+ and the large pieces make them nice and safe. A great upcoming Birthday or Christmas gift!!

MEGA BLOKS is also now featuring a Mega Bloks First Builders Let's Play iPad app. This app allows you to view over 20 models and much more.

Ask Matty Q&A for 7/2

I have seen new Batman 3.75" scale figures on even more basic blister cards at stores like Kohls then those at the big 3 stores why is this?
We’re always looking for ways to get into different retailers. Kohl’s was particularly price challenged, so we offered them a bare bones Batman.

Will the subscriber bonus Slimer be simply bagged or on a small blister card?
 Polly bagged.

Any teases before SDCC on how many new MOTU figures you will show?
We will show figures for Q4 2012 and Q1 2013.

Distribution on Disney Cars toys has been poor with many Characters from when released 1 yr ago still clogging shelves, why can't there be more new cars in each case and less re-packs and why not sell these on Mattycollector?
Case packs are designed for retail to appeal first to kids and moms who do the majority of retail purchases. While we treasure our collectors, in the end they are outnumbered greatly by moms and kids.

Are the day of sale sell out reflective of popularity or a much lower day of sale availability of the lions? It is a much lower production. Day of sales were based off of the sub holder as a base line with only a few produced for day of.
